African Pro-poor Tourism Development Centre – Making Tourism work for Communities
This project is coming in handy to contribute to the restoration of deforested area patches within or around gazetted forests in Kenya through tree planting. The project intervention is to adopt these deforested/logged off forest patches, fence and plant indigenious tree seedlings to help recover the lost forest cover. The adopted sites or patches shall be fenced and managed for a period of 3 years in order to enhance survival of planted tree seedlings and achieve value for money. The project end objective will be site restoration to attain good forest covers.
The project will be done in patches of 1/4 to 2 Hectares where APTDC will manage the sites for a period of 3 years until the trees reach a self sustainable level and height.
The project welcomes partnerships from corporate companies, foundations, development agencies, individuals and the public.
