African Pro-poor Tourism Development Centre – Making Tourism work for Communities
The Community Empowerment Through Tourism Enterprises (CETE) program is a comprehensive initiative designed to foster economic growth and community development through tourism. CETE works closely with community organizations, focusing on women, youth, and local entrepreneurs, to identify and develop new tourism enterprises while enhancing existing ones. By collaborating with Community Based Organizations, the program supports tourism and cultural heritage-related ventures, mobilizing financial resources, skills, and technologies to fuel their growth.
CETE’s approach extends beyond initial development, offering crucial marketing support and industry linkages to ensure these enterprises can effectively sell their tourism products. The program implements various projects aimed at making Community Based Tourism Enterprises (CBTEs) successful and rewarding for the entire community, ultimately contributing to sustainable economic empowerment and preservation of local cultural heritage.
