Infection Prevention & Control

Infection Prevention & Control (IPC).

Infection Prevention & Control program- (IPC), has been developed to prevent and control the spread of disease infection from infected persons, substances and surfaces within communities and health facilities in Kenya. (IPC has been proved to be a practical and evidence-based approach that has been used to prevent the sick, caregivers/treatment supporters and healthcare workers from contracting avoidable infection.  It is a program that seeks to prevent people that are interacting from the infection environments, from contracting it, while receiving care, administering care and providing support to the sick and those infected. This is to prevent further outbreaks of the infection.  The program is mainly implemented in Health Facilities and Household Level where the infected are mostly handled. The program takes two approaches: Home Based IPC and Health Facility Based IPC.

The goal is:

To contribute to the prevention of infection outbreaks within communities in Kenya.

How Do We Do It.

1.Partnerships with public and private sector.

2.Resource mobilization to fund IPC project activities.

3.Training Health Care workers on different IPC Procedures and Equipment

4.Training Caregivers of the Infected on IPC Procedures.

5.Distribution of IPC materials-Gloves, safety boxes, etc

6.Participation in formulation of IPC procedural manuals with government and partners.
