POVERTY ALLEVIATION THROUGH TOURISM
Program Description:
This program’s goal is to capacity build and support local community members towards engaging in tourism activities by utilizing tourism and cultural heritage resources, skills, and knowledge they have to create employment and income opportunities for themselves. The program also aims at linking tourism and community members where both can utilize business opportunities that tourism and community offers, for an economic gain for example supply of goods and services by the community to hotels and tour operators, for an economic gain.
The program focuses at reducing poverty rates/levels for community members by ensuring that Tourism provides income and employment opportunities for them.
We build the capacity of Local Community groups and individual on skills and knowledge of managing and growing Tourism Enterprises. This is done through sensitization, Training and Financing.
Community Based Tourism Enterprise. This program supports development of community owned tourism enterprises which are linked with the tourism. We guide communities to initiate new enterprises and support them on making improvements on existing enterprises.
